Charity playleaders awarded Generation Can Awards

We are delighted that 3 of our charity’s playleaders have won Awards in the Professionals category at the Generation CAN Awards in Worcester.

The Generation CAN Awards are local awards to celebrate the remarkable achievements of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and the adults who support them.

Margaret Bennett, Ann Gilchrist and Laura Venables are all playworkers for Malvern Special Families charity and each won a Wonder Award for their professional work helping children and young people with special needs.

The Wonder Award (Professionals) are for those education, health or social care professionals who have made a significant difference to a child or group of children within their setting.

Ann Gilchrist was nominated for being a one-in-a-million support for children with disabilities. Ann said: “This is wonderful news, I am very proud to have won such a special award. I really love my job and working with the children and young people.”
Margaret Bennett was nominated for being an inspirational youth leader with a “can-do” attitude. Margaret said: “I don’t know what to say, how amazing to receive this award. It is an absolute delight to be working with the young people and staff of Malvern special families, I hope to continue doing so. I have to say though that the word WORKING really is not applicable and that every time I spend time with these youngsters it is an absolute pleasure.”

Laura Venables is a teaching assistant, as well as working as a playleader for Malvern Special Families charity. She was nominated for going above and beyond to help build an inclusive ethos within her school.
